Gettysburg, PA is well known for it’s major US historical events. People and businesses of the town want to keep as much “quaintness” as possible to it’s historic landmarks and downtown area. As times move forward, construction of new buildings are made to a more “modern” aesthetic. A business wants to erect buildings in the downtown Gettysburg area that would tower over many of the original, historic buildings in the area. The townspeople believe construction of this project would have an irreparable impact on the historic landscape, visitor experience, local businesses, and quality of life for residents.
The team from SaveHistoricGettysburg.com reached out to MAjor Designs based on the recommendation from Anne Gallon from Gallon Historical Art. They needed a public facing website that provided background information about The Gettysburg Station Project but also a petition for people to sign. After developing a custom, responsive theme for WordPress, a custom form was developed. The form is wired to a custom AJAX function which sends data to the WP backend and writes to a JSON file. When ready, the team at SaveHistoricGettysburg.com will present these submissions to the Borough Council.
After going live, Google Analytics and Google Search console were integrated and the website was added to MAjor Designs’ 24/7 web monitor.
