Rebuilding an eCommerce Website for Military Art Prints
MilitaryArtPrints.com is a leading online destination for limited edition military artwork, featuring an extensive catalog covering the Revolutionary War, Civil War, World War II, and the Global War on Terror.
With a roster of well-known military artists, the website serves collectors, historians, and gift buyers looking for authentic, high-quality prints.
When ownership transitioned to Historical Publishing LLC, MAjor Designs was brought in to modernize the platform and ensure long-term stability.
Taking Over an Outdated eCommerce Platform
The existing website was built on an aging PHP-based system (eCommerce Templates) that had become increasingly difficult to manage. This created several challenges:
- Limited flexibility for updates and new features
- Difficulty managing products and inventory
- A restrictive system that made long-term growth nearly impossible
The project required a full takeover and rebuild—not just a redesign.
Migrating to WordPress and WooCommerce
To resolve these issues, I handled a complete migration to a modern WordPress and WooCommerce platform. This process included:
- Exporting and restructuring legacy product data
- Importing and mapping products into WooCommerce
- Preserving categories, product details, and historical inventory
- Rebuilding the front-end for a responsive, user-friendly experience
The new system provides a much more flexible and scalable foundation for managing a large catalog of artwork.
Improving Performance, Usability, and Scalability
With the new platform in place, the website now benefits from:
- Faster load times and improved performance
- A responsive design for mobile and desktop users
- A streamlined product browsing and checkout experience
These improvements make it easier for customers to explore the catalog and complete purchases.
Supporting Long-Term Growth with a Modern eCommerce Platform
By moving to WooCommerce, MilitaryArtPrints.com now has the flexibility to grow alongside the business.
The platform supports:
- Ongoing product expansion
- Easier content and inventory management
- Future integrations and feature enhancements
This ensures the website is no longer a limitation—but a tool for growth.
