Rebuilding an eCommerce Website for Renowned Historical Artist James Dietz
James Dietz is a highly respected artist known for creating detailed paintings depicting pivotal moments in American military history.
As part of the Historical Publishing LLC family of brands, his website plays a key role in showcasing artwork and driving online print sales to collectors across the country.
Over time, however, the existing website had become outdated and difficult to maintain.
Migrating from a Legacy Platform to WordPress and WooCommerce
The previous version of JamesDietz.com was built on an older PHP-based eCommerce system that no longer met the needs of the business.
In early 2024, I led a full platform migration to a modern WordPress and WooCommerce environment. This included:
- Complete re-platforming to WordPress
- Development of a custom WooCommerce theme
- Migration of products and content to the new system
The goal was to create a faster, more flexible website that could support long-term growth.
Integrating Square for Payment Processing and Improved Checkout
As part of the rebuild, the payment system was upgraded to integrate with Square.

- Google reCAPTCHA to reduce spam submissions
In addition, Google Analytics and Google Search Console were integrated to provide insights into traffic and user behavior.
