Building a Public Information Website for Let’s Get Immunized NY
Let’s Get Immunized NY is an initiative focused on providing New Yorkers with reliable, trustworthy information about vaccines and encouraging individuals to stay up to date with recommended immunizations. The project was developed in collaboration with Reid, McNally & Savage, LLC, with design direction provided by Joni Blymire.
Designing and Developing a WordPress Website from Concept
Starting from initial layout ideas, MAjor Designs handled the full development of the website using WordPress. The site was intentionally kept simple and focused, consisting of:
- A primary homepage with key information and messaging
- A contact page for inquiries and outreach
This streamlined structure allows visitors to quickly access important information without unnecessary complexity.
Implementing a Custom English/Spanish Language Toggle
A key requirement for the project was providing a Spanish-language version of the website. Rather than relying on third-party translation plugins, I implemented a custom solution using jQuery to swap English content with client-provided Spanish translations.
This approach allows for:
- Full control over translation accuracy
- A seamless toggle between English and Spanish
- The ability to force a language using a query parameter (e.g., ?language=es)
Currently, the site supports both English and Spanish, with the flexibility to expand if needed.
Delivering a Fast Turnaround for a Time-Sensitive Project
One of the most important aspects of this project was speed. Working closely with Joni Blymire and the team at Reid, McNally & Savage, MAjor Designs was able to quickly bring the site from concept to launch while meeting all functional requirements.
Supporting Ongoing Content Updates and Expansion
Since launch, the website has continued to evolve through content updates, including new images, press releases, and informational copy. The WordPress platform allows the team to easily manage and expand content as needed over time.
Collaborating with Agencies to Deliver Reliable Web Solutions
This project highlights MAjor Designs’ ability to work alongside agencies and designers to deliver complete web solutions. By combining design direction, custom development, and efficient execution, Let’s Get Immunized NY launched as a reliable, multilingual resource for the public.
