Stefan Hartman - Freelance Web Developer

Responsibilities: As a freelancing Web Designer/Developer, I work a with variety of clients offering web design, web development & web hosting. My portfolio includes clients all over the US including organizations in New York, graphic designers in Pennsylvania and military artwork vendors in Virginia.

I’ve worked with small businesses and individuals creating websites from concept all the way to launch. I have also worked with other graphic designers turning their layered PSDs or flat PDFs into working websites and custom, responsive WordPress themes. You can see a variety of examples on my portfolio page.

Finally, I have worked with other web design/development companies under an NDA to provide web development work that they outsourced. Most of this work is working with their design team to turn their mock-ups into a working WordPress theme.

UPS i-parcel & UPS

Web/Graphic Designer & Web Developer

Duration: August 2012 – February 2021

Responsibilities: I was originally hired at i-parcel to do web and graphic design as well as minor front-end web development. I designed/developed 3 iterations of the i-parcel.com website including current design. I also helped the sales team with creating PowerPoint presentation decks, designing brochures and business cards and creating graphics for social media accounts.

UPS purchased i-parcel in October of 2014. At this point I was pushed into a position which involves boarding e-commerce merchants into UPS i-parcel’s Global Access platform. The UPS i-parcel solution makes it easy to deal with all of the pain-points of international sales and shipping. I used jQuery and CSS to integrate the GA solution into their already existing website with the goal to increase international sales.

Additionally, I worked with the sales team from time to time to mock-up screenshots of what the solution could look like in a perspective client’s website.

Finally as the solution grew, we needed to be able to easily integrate into other eCommerce platforms. I was tasked to create plug-ins for WordPress which worked with WooCommerce plug-in. I would use the WordPress framework to execute various API calls to UPS i-parcel’s Global Access platform.

Wide Open Communications

Web Designer & Web Developer

Duration: April 2007 – August 2012

Responsibilities: In the 5 years I was at Wide Open Communications, I was the only web designer and developer. Wide Open already had an established customers base at that time but was losing customers due to the previous designer/developer. I joined the team and helped increase the number of satisfied customers as well as bring in new clients.

Many of their current customers were on a very old iHTML coded eCommerce platform. A large, common task for me was to re-platform their websites to a stronger, more relevant eCommerce system.

Besides web design and development, WOC also offered web & email hosting and SPAM filtering. This is where I learned much of my networking knowledge including setting up DNS records, updating Nameservers, creating sub-domains and other server tasks like creating email accounts, installing SSL certificates, viewing server stats and so on.
